Living Independence For the Elderly (LIFE) is an all-inclusive program of medical and support services to help people maintain independence in the community. Nationally known as the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), this model has proven success throughout the United States.
In 2005 Lutheran SeniorLife established VieCare, Inc., a local, non-profit corporation. VieCare, Inc. has partnered with local community hospitals to provide LIFE programs in Armstrong County, Butler County, Beaver and Lawrence County.
LIFE is committed to protecting participants from the spread of infectious disease. We are providing this information to help control and prevent the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19. LIFE follows accepted policies and standard procedures with respect to infection control.
This includes, at a minimum, the guidelines developed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Our LIFE programs maintain a plan to investigate, control and prevent infections in our center and in the participant’s place of residence. We have procedures in place to record and develop action plans related to any incidents of infection. Similarly, we monitor CDC and other websites for the latest guidance and resources as it relates to home health agencies, hospice agencies, dialysis and nursing facilities.
Proper hand and respiratory hygiene, monitoring participants, staff and visitors for fever and respiratory symptoms, using alcohol-based hand sanitizers and keeping all individuals, including visitors, staff and participants at home when they are ill are all strategies that LIFE has implemented to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
